Default Ordering 35s, need some advice (BFG KM2, Kumho Road Venture MT KL71)

After reading have read dozens of posts (many of them really old) about both tires I have a couple of questions that hopefully those with both can answer.

I have narrowed my choices down to either the BFG KM2 35x12.50x17 or the Kumho Road Venture MT KL71 315/70R17.

If you have owned either tire I would appreciate your feedback. Please state which tire you have, size, current mileage.

Road Noise @ Highway Speeds:
  1. How much louder are these in comparison to each other?
  2. How much louder are either of these in comparison to the Sport stock Goodyear Wranger tires.

Balancing:
  • Any issues with balancing?

Wear & Tear:
  • How do either of these hold up on a DD?

Overall Satisfaction:
  • Overall, given your tire choice how satisfied have you been with these tires?

I've heard great things about both tires. Both are solid, all-around good rubber. The main difference would be if you want to deal with a directional tire, and/or that the KM2's tend to run small. That, and isn't there a shortage of the KM2's right now?

If ya go with the Kumhos, which one do you pick for the spare ? Then what do you do when you have a flat on the other side ??

Go with the KM2's, I've got the same on mine and its a DD (60 miles/day) No balancing issues whatsoever, great on the trails, oddly enough better on rock than mud imo...I've got almost 8K on them with no real signs of tread wear, running a 5 wheel rotation helps.

Slight hum on the freeway, only REALLY noticable with the tops/doors off. Used to run Swamper SSR's, these seem about the same noise wise.

I had the Kumho's on a smallish truck I used to have. I hated them. They were loud as hell on the highway and nearly rattled the steering wheel right off the dash. Not bad if you'll only be in mud, though. I stick with nondirectional tires now, too. That way they're good on either side of the vehicle. I don't have any experience with those particular BFG tires but I liked the AT's. I currently have Hankook Dynapro MT's on my Jeep and I really like them. Not overly loud, pretty smooth, nondirectional, and mean looking. Really heavy, though. I may consider a lighter tire next time, but maybe not. I like these ones. Good luck with the decision! I researched tires for months before picking mine!

KM2's run really small - If you want a 35" KM2 you'll need to purchase the 37's.

Go with 35x12.50r17 Toyo M/T

Road Noise @ Highway Speeds:
How much loader are these in comparison to each other?
I think they're pretty quiet for a MT and no louder than my stock Rubi tires.
How much loader are either of these in comparison to the Sport stock Goodyear Wranger tires. N/A

Balancing:
Any issues with balancing?
Never had a problem balancing them.

Wear & Tear:
How do either of these hold up on a DD?
I've heard of people getting upwards of 60-70k miles.

Overall Satisfaction:
Overall, given your tire choice how satisfied have you been with these tires?
10/10 - I will buy another set if these ever die. Most rounded tire out there imo.

I've got the Toyo MT's in a 33.5x11.5x17 and I'll agree with Abacabb - they are fantastic. Other than being on the heavier side, they are hands-down one of my favorite tires out there. If you're considering other options - then this one should be one of the top pics.

Well I have the kumho's and love them. I didn't have any balancing problems and they are not loud on the highway. So there is my .02 cents
