I am re-gearing to 4.88, got a quote from a local shop at 850 for labor... I was going to purchase the Yukon master regear kit from Northridge4x4, but do I need anything else?

1- Follow the recommendations of your locals.
2- sometimes the shop can get a better deal on the parts than you, if they choose to not mark them up, that's another question.
3- I'm paying about $1200 for both parts and labour, but thats discounted a bit as the rear D44 was not installed yet and almost new, so the tech opted to not use the full overhaul kit. The front will be done on a hoist. That's with Yukon 5.13's.

I always set up my own but i know of shops locally that charge anywhere from $600 and up to regear....it is not hard to set up a gear set most are lapped with .005 backlash and with crush sleeves and shims to get pinion spacing correct all you need is a magnetic base dial indicator with a gauge that reads in the thousandths chech the back lash on the drive side of the ring gear
My local shop was awesome. I purchased my own gears from Northridge, and they made sure I ordered the right stuff. All I needed was the complete overhaul kit. The Yukon gears were good quality, and the shop said the they set up very easily.
Once they got my diffs apart, I ended up with new axle seals as well since the origionals were about done. If I planned on doing those in the first place, I would have bought some better aftermarket ones.
So I litteraly walked in with the Northridge kit, and two days later (and $1500) drove my jeep home all done.
The shop used royal purple fluids, and I was cool with that. I figured they do it for a living, so they know best
