Default What size wheels/tires?

This is a JKU dd. I have 255/75/17 w/street tires right now. I'm looking for a dual purpose tire, max 33".

liftajeep got me to re-thinking.

I'm not wanting to lift much, more like just level a bit. Don't want to kill the gas mileage either.

I'm all about cost efficient utilitarian solutions

I see 15" and 16" tires/wheels are a bit more wallet friendly, more choices in the tire dept, does it make sense to consider a different size (cheap steel) wheel?

Thoughts?

I ran 16" wheels and 33s for quite a while. This was on a 2.5" BB. 4.5" backspacing. Looked good and I was able to run with the bigger dogs (well, 35s and the occasionally 37s) ...

Once I added heavier accessories it became necessary to replace the BB with a coil lift. (had light rubbing when wheeling hard).

i think 33s are fine if you want to keep milage and cost down. anything larger leads to big expense. offroad they will take you pretty far, jut got to go a little slower and spot a bit more often.
