Extending breather question...
Going to work on extending my breather tubes this weekend and wanted to check a few things first...
I have a 6 speed, so there are 4 breathers, right? (X-fer case, tranny, front and rear axles)
Instead of running new lines has anyone just added an extension to the existing lines? I thought I once saw a double ended fitting that could attach tubing to more tubing. If I can go this route where can I pick up the double ended connectors locally?
Lastly, I want to put small hose clamps on the tubing where it attachings at the axles. Where can I pick those up locally? Auto parts store, home depot type place, or?
Thanks for any help you guys can give!

Thanks for the input guys. Now I know where to find the parts!
I thought the tranny and xfer breathers routed into the engine bay near the lower firewall? So I was just going to pick them up from there and raise them up a bit to the top of the firewall. This is not the case? (The tranny is factory routed just directly on the top of the tranny?)

get up on top of the motor and reach behind it and you will find the tube just about centered on the motor. I hope you have small hands because it is very tight there. If you get under the passenger side and look up to the center of the motor you can even see if you can position yourself into the right angle.

Yes, the transmission breather is in the shifter assembly. From what I've seen on the forum, the extension of it will only gain you a couple inches (hahaha).... I think people have used some type of sprinkler connection for the new relocate. IMO, it's too much work for little gain...

I bought about a piece of brake line, cut it into 2-3" sections and used that for an extension junction. I slid it halfway into the end of the factory line then the other half into new line which I then ran as high as I could FOR ALL FOUR BREATHERS. The factory seals look really tight, and hard to get to on an automatic.
why wouldn't you want the added protection? Regardless of whether or not you hydrolock, you don't want water in your other components.

Ok, started this project today. Moved the front diff to the top of the firewall and the rear diff to above the passenger tail light. I spotted the transfer case breather tube attachment point near where the shift cable attaches and was able to get a hand on it. I was short on time and was not able to find where the line terminates, and wasn't able to find the transmission breather line. I already have the supplies so I think I will try and tackle the transfer case and tranny next weekend. I guess it can't hurt to do them all...
While I was at lowes this weekend I also picked up a metric bolt and some sleeve spacers and did the swaybar disconnect relocate while I was working under the front.
So it was a successful weekend of cheap mods, thanks to the great info on this website!
