OK, What's the deal with driveline vibrations, need super tech!
I can't get them out no matter what I do!
I have a teraflex 2.5 coil 4dr kit on a 2dr along with;
front LCA
rear UCA
front monster track bar
rear monster track bar
Bilstein 5100's sized for the lift
Coast complete driveline (had the vibrations with stock shafts also, just not as bad)
stock rubi tires and wheels.
here is what I have done to try and remedy so far;
Adjusted front lower control arms from fully extended - fully shortened right now I am at 3 degrees caster and no more room to shorten control arms.
adjusted rear uppers from 2 degrees down all the way collapsed - fully extended 2 degrees up pinion angle
made all these adjustments 1 turn at a time with no change!
Had alignment x2
tires rebalnced and rotated x3
dropped front DS vibration still there just not as bad
dropped rear same result still there not as bad
with both DS back in does not get any worse or better while in 4 wheel Dr
vibration is there from 40-60 mph but really kicks in at 60-68 mph does it in neutral on the gas or off the gas! until I am out of that speed range.
it is in the seat of the pants can't feel it in the steering wheel and is rhythmic in nature.
I have checked and torqued all fasteners.
It drives straight, tracks perfect, no pull at all, handles superb, just vibrates! when the hard top was on it was completely unbearable with the resonance it creates with the fiberglass top.
It seems to get worse and better but never goes away with added weight or a full or empty tank, On half a tank it starts to get worse and close to empty is unbearable.
Jeep was in a fender bender prior to ift that took out front bumper and drivers side front fender. cosmetically was not bad but it hit the drivers side front enough to push the front axle housing far enough in to dent top of oil pan, bend transmission mount and left side motor mount and according to body shop push the left frame rail back and up about 4 degrees.
frame shop fixed it and replaced tranny and motor mount and said frame is dead nuts on! I also had them recheck the work and is completely fine.
I also noticed that my body mount bolts on drivers side are a little crooked but they said that will not cause speed specific vibrations.
It sounds and feels like a DS problem on the freeway. something is seriously wrong and I don't know what to do all I know is I travel freeway at these speeds and I am sick of feeling like I am sitting on a giant vibrating dildo!
can someone please help or is this just a perk of lifting a jeep?
