Trail Grapplers vs. Mud Grapplers
I was sold on the muds but as I look at the trails they look like a good tire also. Can anyone tell me the advantages/differences of the one over the other. Also I thought the muds were more $$$
I had the trail g on my f250 and loved them they were quiet and wore great, I have mud g on my jk they are loud as hell ride great above 10mph lol and are lasting way longer than I figured, I'm at 18000 at half tread
I ran 15k on the trails and loved them. The drawback for me was that they were a little on the hard side and since I spend a ton of time on the rocks the lugs were tore up real bad. The muds are great for me they are much softer and don't tear up as badly on the rocks. However they are much louder... way louder and I would guess that they would have a much shorter life on the road. Having run both I would say unless you spend a ton of time rock crawlin go wit the trails they are quieter and last longer. If you are on the rocks alot go mudds they are much more flexable and will hold up better.

I've got 40,000 miles on a set of mud grapplers, with enough tread for another 20,000. I hope to replace them this fall regardless of the mileage. Fantastic all around tire. Only drawback is the noise- it is SIGNIFICANT. Like a Cessna flying 3 feet from the Jeep. Next time I will be going with the Trail grapplers. Love Nitto. Great experience with them.
The muds are louder...But dont buy into people saying they don't last. I have over 30,000 miles on mine. I run at 28 psi and do a 5 wheel rotation about every 1,500 miles. They've worn just fine...

I'm planning on 35x12.5R17 Trail Grapplers.... what wheel width would be best?
One of the wheels I'm looking at is only available in 17x8 (instead of 17x8.5 or 17x9) and I'm worried that may be too narrow.
