Default 08 Sahara 4 door 33's no lift setup

Hello,

I'm new to this forum and really trying to reseach as much as I can on a better setup for my ride. I plan to do only some light off roading for now. I want to get some 33's for my rig but no lift for now and i just want to know with these tires and wheels while I have any rubbing? I'm very new to all this so I'm not even sure that DuraTracs below are 33s?or are these 35s?

Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac 285/70/r17
Pro Comp Alloys Series 7089

Those are 33's. And they will fit just fine on a stock jk. You just want to make sure your backspacing is around 4.5. You might get some rubbing at full flex. A set of flat fenders will fix that.

With that set up you'll have no rub on road. Potentially some rub depending on how hard you wheel with the set up.

Those Duratracs are 33"s

Just to build on what just JK'n said, the 4.5 iches of back spacing (or less) will allow your tires away to mount further from the inside of the wheel well, this accommodates for the wider tire, and makes the tire 'stick out' beyond the stock fender flares (by about 2"), giving the jeep an aggressive stance.

I just put these tires on my JK, in this size. Love them so far.

Thanks so much for the info guys. I did a little more looking around and I think I will switch to the 17x9 Rugged Ridge Satin Black Wheels instead of the Pro Comps. I like the idea of the 4.5in spacers pushing the wheel out more for that aggressive stance.

Default If you get brave you can cut your factory flares

I love the look of the factory flares when they have been cut and then you can be certain they will not rub. I'm still working up the nuts to cut mine though. I have a 2.5" lift and 285 70 17's so I really need 35's before I do it.

Default No problem

that set up will only rub on FULL STEERING LOCK on the plastic airdam on the street. wheeling at full flex you may rub the fender, but it's not an issue either. if you don't want to cut your fenders or install a suspension lift, you can add a 1" body spacer kit for under $150 will solve any rubbing issues. i can tell you one thing for certain though, you WILL go to 35's once you see your jeep transform after your wheel / tire setup is installed. this is almost a guarantee! good luck and post pics with whatever you end up with!

LOL! I second that. I went 33s with a 2.5 coil lift and now want 35s. I'm sure when I get 35s, I'll want 37s. It's how it goes!

I agree - I love my 33"s and I don't regret going to 33"s at all - but I did and still do want 35"s... just not ready for all the additional money and work to get 35"s set up....

Oh I agree with you guys that I will probably want 35s but see this is my first jeep and since I just got it I want to get to know everything there is to know. I want to take the time to feel out the jeep and see what I would like to do with her.

Question on the 1" body spacer kit. If i was to add soemthing like that will I run into issues with gearing ratio. I dont want to get into the whole re gearing thing yet. Thats why I've decided not to jump to 35's and a lift yet. See I drive about 50km to work and back which is about 60% highway driving. Up and down hills. I dont want to spend most of that feeling like the jeep is dieing along the way.

Regearing has nothing to do with any kind of lift (suspension or body), it's requiered when you go up in tire size. IMO 33's will be more than enough if it's a DD with a lot of highway driving, a 35's set up would require many other mods. Beside a 4.5 backspacing, I thing that a basic 3/4 or 1" leveling kit (coil spacers) which is very cheap would eliminate any rubbing possibility at full flex.
