Default Looking for input on what to put in my rear pumpkin

Hey guys & gals,

Looking for some input on what I should install in my rear pumpkin while doing my gear change. Right now I am leaning towards a Detroit TruTrac or an Eaton E-locker.

Benefits of one over the other? I really don't see my rig becoming a rock crawler as we really don't have that kind of terrain around here. Most is loose dirt and sand and shale.

Thx in advance.

May not be a really fair comparison with a limited vs a selectable, but:

The truetrac is always on, and will help with snow/ice even when you don't know you need help. Offroad, the computer and/or a little brake pressure will lock it up to something close to locker performance when you need that little extra bit of traction. (but for wheels in the air driving, a locker will be the better choice).

The elocker is on only when you push the button, and likely will only be used the few times offroad when you would be stuck without it. There are reports that the D44 design is not as strong as a comparable d44 arb. But for your stated use, probably not an issue.

From a price standpoint, the truetrac wins. From a coolness standpoint, the elocker wins. Can't go wrong with either.

other. I like truetracs and I have one in the front, but I would go with a detroit locker or some kind of full locker in the rear. I think my detroit locker in the rear is less noticeable on the street than my truetrac up front fwiw. I was sold on truetracs front and rear, but I just didn't want to leave anything on the table because if my wheeling habits evolved into harder terrain, I would have to get something else and do it twice.

The title as it appears on my screen is:

I would think that's a little personal for an open forum like this, but to each their own...

If he were down in arizona instead of up in canada, I would agree on running the detroit over a truetrac. My guess is that he is aware of the auto-locker handling issues in winter weather, so decided to focus on limiteds and selectables.

ARB air lockers front and back. Could not be happier.

For sure, the detroit was just an example. like I said, a detroit (probably not best for him) OR a locker of some kind (selectable)

That was my only concern about the full Detroit. I was considering it at first and then read lots of feedback about snow and ice handling. It doesn't seem like a good fit for a DD where it snows.

It's pretty much pointing to a selectable in the rear if u want maximum traction and something that your skills can grow with.
