So I'm wondering if I can run 37's without making changes to the gears of a Stock Rubicon? I plan on getting a fairly complete 4 inch coil lift

I've onwed 4 jeeps over the past 20 years but have always run stock. As I get older and look to purchase a new 2012 I definetely have TIRE/LIFT envy. Love the outdoors but the extent of my 4 wheeling is limited to mud and snow in the woods of Maine during hunting seasons. Nothing too extreme. It's also my daily driver.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

 

37's = Re-gear
My 6 speed Rubi is a dog now running 35's.
6 th gear is pretty much useless now.

 

Can you? Yes.
Will you enjoy it? No.

Will the new power and torque of the 2012's make it a little better?

 

I don't think it will. I read somewhere that the 2012 Rubi has a lower gearing than the 2011, like 3.73 or something instead of 4.10.

So I am speculating here that regearing for oversized tires is still going to be the way to go.

 

I forgot to mention, a friend who drove the pentastar equipped Grand Cherokee with the 5 speed auto said it was underwhelming and could use a V-8 instead. So that combined also with lower gearing makes me suspect that no one is going to be much more successful driving 37's in a 2012 without regearing.
