Default K&N Air Filter

After talking to Quadratec and going back and forth between a few, I've decided to go with the K&N 63 Series AirCharger. Any opinions??

you might as well get a CAI instead of the filter, little more bang for the buck

Another option is to install the K&N filter and cut a few holes in the airbox. I did this on my F-150. Some engines have larger gains with cold air intakes than others. From what I've been reading, Jeep apparantly did a good job designing the JK's air intake system and the CAI's don't produce huge gains. Has anyone here modified their stock intake?

Dirtman on the forum designed his own snorkel which basically is a true cold air intake.. with a pre filter.. and you gain some height for your airbox out of it. His design includes modifying the stock air box. Theres a couple manufactures copying his design now. Its not as big of an eyesore as the elephant trunk snorkels.

And I don't care what anyone says.. you don't pull "cold air" from under the hood.

I did, but for a completely different reason. I put a snorkel in which required several mods to the airbox. It does deliver cooler air (by 10-20 degrees as measured with a Flashpaq) but really did it as we have lots of rivers and streams to cross.

The snorkel manufacturer, RROR, does recommend a K&N filter for the stock airbox.

You can deliver the coolest air possible, even if its 90 out, the temperature inside the engine compartment is much hotter when wheeling.

OK...maybe I should have been a bit more specific or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. I wasn't talking about just replacing the filter with a K&N filter, but installing the K&N 63 Series AirCharger® Performance Intake. And I'm not going to install a snorkel since I don't go off roading anywhere which would require me to have one. Here's a link to the description http://www.quadratec.com/products/17127_100_07.htm

and here's a photo of it:

Now, unless I'm crazy, isn't this a cold air intake?
I'm basically looking to see if anyone has experience with this system or if there are any suggestions similar to this type of air intake.

I was also looking into the AIRAID Cold Air Dam Intake

Any thoughts?
