Default A few EVO LCA skid questions...

Getting ready to weld up my EVO LCA skids. The directions say there is a left and right skid and that they are marked accordingly.

My skids are not marked, does anyone know how to tell the difference?

Also, do you have to drop the lower control arms to weld these up?

i would drop the arm, so the heat doesnt destroy the bushing.

they should be stamped with a number... mine were, and my friends were not. if not what we did was match both up to the brackets, and one will fit either side slightly better.. do this, then prep the metal, and weld away!

also another tip is to weld the inside of the bracket (not skid) to axle tube for more strength.. stock they only weld the outside if i remember correct .

dont forget to paint after!

We did have a run of these the were packed before the part number identification was put on them.

Luckily it is only two parts in the box so it is easy to determine which part goes where.

Follow what rinkishJK said. One will fit better on one side than the other and vice versa. They are the same brackets, just mirror opposites.

Yes you should remove the control arm at the axle before welding. This is simply to not cook the control arm bushing. Remove and weld one side at a time, reinstall control arm before moving on to other side.

Have fun, this is a great DIY welding job.
