Default Whats your opinion on Heat Sink Trans Coolers?

I'm ready to install a Automatic Transmission Cooler. With the limited room behind the grill on the JK I'm thinking of a 15" to 18" long 3" around unit. Do any of you run a similar setup? What are the Pro's & Con's ? Or should I just stick to the typical type that attachés to the A/C Condenser? Thanks, Steve

I've got 2 of them. One for the trans and one for the power steering. One is inside the grill the other one is mounted to the square tubing behind the bumper near the rubicon sway bar motor. I did have both inside the grill at one time. Oh, I have the 12" ones with one way in and one way out. No need to go any bigger. No problems whatsoever

Please post pictures. I am very interested in all info about this I can get and pictures so I better understand, because I am thinking (Paused now) about adding a tranny cooler with or without a fan.

Is this better than the basic tranny cooler I am thinking of doing?

Thanks.

In my opinion yes. Since it cools itself and doesn't need air I believe its the best thing going. With all the crawling and going so slow it your not getting the air to cool it so this was my solution. Want pics? PM me your cell # and I'll text you some tomorrow.

The heat sink coolers are good. You could also look at the coolers that have built in fans. Those are great too.

Just more unnecessary wiring.

No. It has an opening on each end. They are the short ones. Since there isn't alot of room this is what I choose to go with.

Thank you for all your input. While surfing the Web, Jeg/Summit etc. I notice some of these Coolers have filters and some have dual inlets/outlets. Does anyone have any experience with the Coolers I described? If so, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks again, Steve
