Default 2008 Sahara Gears

I've been reading that the 2008 model year Saharas have a standard 3.21 gear ratio with optional 3.73. How can I find out which one mine has? I bought it used and the dealer's window sticker says 3.21, and one of the online VIN decoders tells me 3.73.

I don't have the factory window sticker, just the one from the used car lot. Could the service dept at the local Jeep dealer help me with this?

Cool

Automatic = 3:73, stick = 3:21

Pretty much covers it

Auto - 3.73
Tow Package - 3.73

Neither of those, probably 3.21
May still have it as an option though.

You can also get the build sheet from jeep using the VIN.

If you bought it used, did previous owner regear?

Tried Dirtman's trick - I don't know why I didn't think of that...

I do have the tow package so, I guess that's why I have 3.73's. Now I'm left wondering where the dealer got its info.

Oh well, good for me!

Go out to CompNine.com. In the Research area is a VIN decoder. As noted above, they will all have 3.21 in the standard equipment area of the window sticker, the 3.73 will be listed in the optional equipment area. (as far as why the dealer listed 3.21 and not 3.73, perhaps they looked at the standard eq, and didn't bother to look at the optional eq...)
