Default Dana 30 front 5.13 gear question? Please help

I have a 2011 Sport Unlimited. I've got three quotes for swapping my 3.73 gears to 5.13's they are $1,150, $1750, and $2,400 are the prices.

The guys that quoted the $2,400 said its so high because you have to change the carrier in the Dana 30 because of the small size of the pinion on the 5.13's.

The question I guess is, is this true? I tried searching for this info with no luck. Either the other two guys quotes are wrong or the $2,400 guy doesn't know what he's doing.

Please no guessing. I would like responses from people that have done the 2011 Dana 30 swap to 5.13 gears.

Thanks

to my knowledge the 5.13 is the biggest gear ratio for the d30 that you can do without swapping out the carrier. just like if you were going to throw a 5.38 in there you would have to change the carrier thats why it won't fit. thats what i know, and i've done some gear research because i am putting 5.13's in my d30. is this guy working for an offroad shop? i wouldn't trust him to instal my gears. sounds shady..

If you currently have 3.73 you don't need a new front carrier to fit 5.13s. But even if you needed to, this doesn't justify this big difference in prices because the carrier all alone doesn't cost more than 100$.

Default performance shop

They did the lift on my jeep. They do a lot of race cars and stuff. I doubt they come across many Dana 30's.

The best shop in Socal, EVO does complete gear swaps for $1000. They are taking you for a ride.

couple places i know of in TX that will do it for 999.00 front and rear. Local shop quoted me 750.00 just for labor... so it pays to shop around.

Is your Jeep an auto or manual? What kind of mileage are you getting with 5.13?

THIS IS IMPORTANT!

The R&P you are putting in is very thin. It is very common for them to fail. Without the warranty, you'd be paying all over again for the work. I've had a R&P fail and had to pay. Learn from my mistakes and go to a shop who'll warranty your work.

Yes, the discount reference above will also apply.
