Default rust spots?

I banged up some stuff with my amateur wrenching skills when doing my lift. Scratch on the springs here and there, good few spots on the axles.

Does it matter if they have surface rust where the paint chipped?

Shoot I be shooting it with rattle can?

Does not really matter, IMO. It will all develop surface rust eventually, unless you work at preventing it. Some do.

My coil springs were completely rusted when I got my Jeep. I eventually got tired of looking at it because I got a stubby bumper and you could really see the rust underneath. I just picked up a some cheap black rust paint and it worked really well.
