Default Need to squeeze as much MPG as i can out of the jeep

I recently started a new job which requires me to do a lot of driving. Selling my jeep for something much more fuel efficient is not an option because I love the damn thing to much. I know I'm not going to be able to get a ton more MPG but even just a few would help. I have no suspension modifications. I was running the stock rubi tires (255-75/17 BFG MT's) and was getting combined, both city and highway, 17 MPG. I just put on a set of 265-70/17 Yokohama Geolandar AT-S and a K&N drop in air filter 2 days ago. Any other suggestions as to what I could do to get some better MPG? Exhaust, CAI, programmer? Any and all input is appreciated. My jeep is a 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited X that only has cosmetic mods. I do not have bumpers, sliders, lift, ect.

stubby the front bumper, pull the rear seats, pull the carpet and floor mats, no hardtop, make sure you go doorless as much as possible. And before you ask NO I'm not being sarcastic I'm being very serious, This will get you as the maximum amount of mpg out of a JK. Other than that buy a used yaris for like 6K and run it into the ground.

You wont see much more than 22mpg traveling 60 on the highway with a superchips.

It's a brick on wheels with a puny engine there's not much you can do besides what you've done already.

Have you noticed any difference with the tires and filter?

Drive with the wind at your back as much as possible. Bricks aren't very aerodynamic.

Yea, I think your best solution is to buy an inexpensive "beater" car that gets good mileage. Try to get one that looks like sh*t and always park it beside a Lexus or Hummer. They love that.

Try to stay under 60mph or buy a geo metro.

If you follow the later advice, you shouldn't have any problem with the first part.

My 2008 JKU is my daily driver, auto, softtop, 3:73's, and bone stock.
I drive 120Kms round trip per day to work and home....moderate Toronto traffic.

On the Eco Meter I settle down to 9.5 L/100 to 10.5L/100 consistantly.

Advice in addition to the above posts:

-if you can change your departure time to work, I started leaving a few minutes earlier to help not get caught in bumper to bumper.

-change the route you go to and from work to favor less stop and go.

-tire pressure is correct.

-easy on the skinny peddel!!! I cruz at 100 to 105 KM/hr, with equals 1800 to 2000 RPM.

-nice and easy on the gas, don't hammer it.

-I coast as much as possible (provided its safe to do so)

It seems to work for me, and yes you will get dirty looks from the puke driving that POS right on your rear bumper. Remember that puke is not paying for your gas....let them pass ya, and when they do smile/smirk cuz YOU are in the Jeep, they're not!!!

There's a web site called fulley.com that tracks all kinds of people and their MPG....they have tips there too, may help you.

I've proven it to myself, driving 10 or 15 KMs over the limit really doesn't get ya there ANY faster, maybe a 2 minutes....slow down enjoy the view through that big windshield.
