Default New guy with a million questions!

This place is great! I have learned so much in a short time. I have a few questions to start out with. I will be adding 33s to my new JK 2 door. It is the base model. Later (2 years) down the road I will add larger tires, re-gear and add a better suspension. For now I just want to start slow. With the 33s I have read that a TF leveling lift would work fine. But should I go ahead and spend the additional $350 to get there 1.5 spring kit and not use the spacers? Next question and from what I have read there are a million opinions but what tire would you recommend for 33s with a 16" aftermarket rim. Let me be honest I will only see offroad during hunting season but then it is cold and wet. I am leaning towards a MT type of tire and have looked at the Durtrac's and MT Baja MTZ radial. Thanks in advance for the help.

First of all welcome to the forum! To put 33s on you would be fine on stock suspension if your only off roading is a trail to a hunting spot. You would rub climbing rocks and stuff though if you might do that in the future. But if you want a little extra clearance and not spend a ton, pick up some 4dr springs. On 2 doors they usually give about the same lift a a leveling kit from what I have heard. And there are no spacers.

welcome to the forum and, as mentioned, you can pretty much run 33's on your stock suspension. if you're on a budget, a 1" body lift will get you clearing them with ease and, not only are they cheap, they are easy to install. as far as tires go, something like duratracs are a good option but, i might recommend a set of falken wildpeak at's instead.

Thanks for the help. I will probally just do the TF leveling kit for now if there are no issues running 33s. It will help take the rake out.

Now as for performance mods, what is out there for tuners for the 11? I haven't been able to find anybody carrying the 11's yet. Is it on the way?

I just came home from overseas, and before I left I had to sell my hotrod. It was pushing 550whp so needless to say the stock 3.6 is lacking in the power department. What is a worthwhile upgrade. I have read conflicting statment on CAI's. Are the aftermarket headers and exhaust worth the cost? Like I said millions of questions.

Hemi upgrade or Rip Supercharger.

Most people have found very little gains from exhaust, CAI, tuners, etc. I have a SC on the wife's and there isn't a lot of difference. Unless you can utilize some of the other features on them, I don't think they are worth the money.

The 3.8 makes about as much power as it can without forced induction. Oh and you '11 has a 3.8L not a 3.6L. The 3.6L are in the new '12s.

Default Show and Tell

I am also a recent Jeep Owner and the place I started was the "Show and Tell" section.

This link is specific to 33s

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...Show-your-33-s

Thats where I figured out what type of tires and lift to get. Having a visual example is always helpful. I went with 33 Duratracs and 1 3/4 spacer lift. 33s will look a lot better on 16s than my 18s. I also looked through the whole thread that was relative to my body color (Black). Also, some good ideas there.

Have fun buying stuff

Thanks for all the help. I feel like a kid again. Where si the best place for wheel and tire packages? I would prefer a place that will mount and balance them. It seems most offroad/jeep stores sell them seperatly and then you have to have them mounted.

I'd check your local tire shops first. My local shops are pretty comparable. I've found good deals online but after shipping and mounting, it worked out about the same. Not to mention if you happen to get a bad tire online.

Hey mlax! I work in Manassas VA. I have a set of 4 springs and 4 shocks that I took off my 2010 Unlimited Rubicon w/ hardtop. About 6,000 miles on them before I installed my OME springs and shocks. I don't know how much lift it will net, maybe someone that knows would chim in. Best of all, FREE to you!
