monster death wobble with my 36'' swamper, can it be my rough country 4'' suspension?
my tsl swamper was not brand new, but they are not really worn and equal wearing. i dont have yet dual stabilizer and the rough country kit doesnt have any ajustable arm, the suspension was under the jeep for 2 weeks now and with my stock tire i have 2 death wobble bad time... my jeep have about 35000 milles and with sotck suspension and wheel it never happen, what i do? one guy tell to me it's allmost impossible to balance tires like mine and put two golf balls in each tire? my jeep parts saler tell to me to put ajustable arm and it will stop. i know i have to put dual stabilizer but only next week. i try different tire pressure like 25 ( have tsl before and worn well at 25), 15=worst, 45 (maximum allowed) reduced 85% of my death wobble.... so probably was my tire, but what to do? the tire was still at the same place for 3 months under a dodge ram without moving at all... maybe it's just that? i know everybody will tell me to check all my bolt for be sure everything torque well, oval slut at the trac bar mount, but everything else? different suspension will help? ajustable arm? i really want to ride with my swamper!!! so help me if you can please.... thank you in advance
just make sure every part of your lift is properly torqued first. Did your tire guy tell you he was having difficulty balancing your tires when he mounted them? Also, at what speed do you experience the wobbles?
more than likely, you either have a track bar bolt that is not tightend to 125 ft lbs of torque and/or, you have some ball joints that are bad. with a set of tires that aren't balanced, this will aggrivate whatever is worn out or loose and cause death wobble. steering stabilizer won't do anything more than mask or somewhat hide the problem.
So you have the 4" standard suspension kit? Did you expand the lower link arm bracket holes and use the cam bolts? (I hate those cam bolts but this kit requires them for proper alignment.) Did you have a professional align the front end to Rough Country (not Jeep) specs? Did you recenter the steering wheel so the traction control doesn't try to jerk you around?
Those big bias tires are not made for the highway. Rough Country only recommends 35" max with their kit. You may be stretching the envelope.

Many guys here had to replace their ball joints at 36,000 miles, so that is where I would start looking. New lift and bigger tires are probably causing the worn ball joints to show how bad they are worn.
i go today at the shop to retorque all my suspension bolt, inspect my bal joints and order twin stabilizer. a lot of people tell to me it's almost impossible to balance a swamper: they said i will balance your tire, go to make 100 milles and came back, i will put your tire on the balancer and the balancing will be wrong.... thats for why some tell to me to put 2 glof balls in each tire. seems to me a backyard solution, but sometimes this is the way to go. at that time i am really open to all suggestion to make my ride roll like it is supposed! to answer to your question, my death wobble happen around 40 mph, not to fast so it's easy to stop, over that you feel a light shimmy in the steering wheel, but nothing else. and no i dont put the cam blot from the kit because one of my friend put it and he never see anny improvement at all, so why to cut my jeep? and my steering wheel was not straight and i have to go to alignment but before i want to make sure everything was good under the truck.
Do not install any kind of HD steering stabilizer before you find the source of the problem. Otherwise you may mask the problem. And at 36000 miles I am sure that your ball joints are not in the best shape. IMO check all the suspension bolts again with a torque wrench, replace ball joints, try to balance your tires properly ( change tire shop if needed ), and if you still experiencing DW buy front lower control arms and set your caster to specs. Then if you manage to eliminate DW buy a HD Aftermarket SS.

you really should get adjustable lower control arms and an adjustable trackbar at a minimum with most lifts. have those torqued to spec, check for ovaling, get an alignment because your caster is probably 0 degrees right now. obviously the tires do not help the problem but when you do 4" springs with no alignment and no way to do an alignment you are just asking for problems.
