Default Rear end hitting bump stops hard after spring/Bilstein lift

I had a Teraflex BB on my '08 Rubicon 2 door and reciently went to a 2.5" ProComp spring lift with Bilstein Shocks. That gave me about 4.5" front and rear. I do know the Bilstein's were sized for a 2.5" lift.

I am very pleased with the softer ride and how it handles on the trail. The only thing is the rear end hits the bump stops pretty hard when I come off a small rock - 3-5 - inch and larger, when I'm going a little too fast.

I had a friend with a TJ who had a problem with Bilstein shocks and hitting the rear bump stops hard. He said he put nitrogen charged shocks on the rear (I can't rember the brand) which took care of his problem.

I hate to replace the springs so I'm wondering if there is a shock which might help me.

Thanks in advance, Bill

Are you sure its hitting the bumpstops? If your shock is too short in the rear it could be topping out.

I think thats what he is experiencing too. I dont know the design of the bilsteins so i cant speak on their behalf, but if someone running the same shocks swapped them out for nitrocharged shocks without touching the actual bumpstops and they were able to fix the problem, than it must be the shocks.

Thank's, This makes sense to me! Bilstein shocks have smaller ranges for the spread of lifts than some other brands. I think I'll try the next lenth up.

No spacers except for the RC wedge to keep the rear spring from bowing. I did track down the pard numbers in the pro comp 2.5 lift and they are the same part number as the 4" springs!
