Default Lift kit change or upgrade

I have 2011 JKU Rubicon. Local shop installed basic ProComp 4" lift kit with the ES9000 shocks. I don't know if this is "stiff", but the ride is a little disconcerting on the road. Driving down a bumpy road, the Jeep feels like it sort of hops as it hits bumps - like the tires are losing contact with the pavement.

I have 35" MT MTZ.

In order to fix this problem, do I need to swap just the shocks, shocks and springs, or the whole lift kit?

What load rating are the tires, and what psi are you running in them?

I think the MT MKZ are 3,195. I am running around 32 psi.

I had that lift, gave it away and put AEV 3.5 on, big difference!!!! I tried lowering pressure, changed shocks...nothing worked. Spend a little extra. I drive 12 miles of dirt/rock roads everyday, you can drive the AEV w Billsteins as fast as you want. Also on the road, 17 miles of curvy hills, still as fast as you want to go. Its great.

X2 on the pressure. Then if that doesn't ease the issue you should be able to adjust those shocks (I believe those are adjustable) or get some bilstien shocks.

These are non adjustable shocks.

I will try lower tire pressure, but if that doesn't work, will a shock change do enough?

Depends, but probably. Bilstiens are popular. And OME. And also check out the EVO plush coils, they are getting very good reviews.

As far as the psi goes, I see a very large difference between 40-45lbs where discount tires usually sets them after a balance/rotate and 32lbs, where I normally run them for longer freeway rides. And there is also a noticeable difference between 32 and 28lbs, where I normally run them in town.

Shocks are typically 50% of ride quality. Changing them my make enough of a difference for you, It could also make the ride even stiffer (although doubtful).

Springs are the other 50% of ride quality

In that lift range take a look at our EVO Plush Ride Springs. Pretty much everyone that I have talked to that installed these has said their ride has improved significantly. They are a very smooth rate

I'm game to replace shocks with something nice (Elkas, I think). And, I'm game to switch springs (I like those EVO 4" progressive). While those are nice upgrades to most lift kits, should I be going back to the beginning and switching to a different kit (Teraflex 4" SA, perhaps)? Or, do I make those changes and then switch kits if necessary?

Let me add this . . . This is my wife's Jeep for daily driving - carpool, etc. Will it ever see something besides pavement? Maybe. But on road performance is my first priority because I want this it to handle safely and confidently. Yes, 4" is more than needed for 35", but she wanted it to look a certain way. I will probably switch to 37" when the 35"s are worn out. And, since I wanted this thing to get up and go in and across traffic - it is presently sitting in BOR having the 6.4L Hemi dropped in. It was already regeared to 5.13. Overkill? Maybe.

So, I've got a fast vehicle with a higher than usual center of gravity. Now, I need it to handle and ride as good as possible.
