My buddy said that the new BF Mud terrains are great in mud, sand, snow and ice.

Not stud-able, no siping, big wide lugs. This is not a good choice for snow and ice.

If you want a semi-aggressive tire, the goodyear duratrac may be one of your best choices. It is not a dedicated snow/ice tire by any means, but it is very popular.

I haven't followed any threads concerning 'street' tires for winter driving, but I'm sure a search will bring up a few threads.

The BFG's are supposed to be good in the snow IF you get the ones that are snow rated. Some of the sizes aren't, and I'm actually curious as to why. The sizes seem like they have identical tread pattern.

Duratracs for me, I live on Lake Michigan and have a lot of ice and drifting snow, have them on my TJ, work great, but I only have 7000 miles on them.

If u want duratracs look into kelly safari tsr. Pretty much the same tire made by Goodyear as well and cheaper.
