Jeep brothers and sisters,

I just got my Trektop NX from Bestop (after waiting all Summer) and I am begging you NOT to get it...
While it looks cool and the Sunrider flip top is super fast, you CANNOT put the back window on. I have tried every tool and
and technique and I have come to the conclusion that NOBODY at Bestop actually owns a 4 door JK.
"J-line"... are you f-ing kidding me? The stock rear window is a breeze compared to this unbeliavable piece of crap.

If anyone has found a solution on how to actually click on the bar at the tailgate PLEASE give me a shout out because I am ready
to cut it off and just velcro and duct tape the bottom part on.

Several mentions of this in various other threads. Consensus seems to be 2 things:
1- the bar came from the factory backwards on many of the tops. Turn it around and give it a shot.
2- even if you turn it around, most folks still aren't happy with it. Most have reported that swapping out to a stock soft top bar is a major improvement.

 

I did try the bar first, but the window still seemed super tight, but I'll try again.

 

Not sure if this helps, but I had all kinds of trouble with the back window at first - we were attaching the tailgate bar to the vehicle, then trying to stretch the window to the bar. Once we attached the window to the bar FIRST, and THEN attached the bar to the tailgate - it was pretty easy.

 

Concur. I think they shipped the bar attached backwardsly for better shipping protection. Alos, the tube gasket was inches too long, so I trimmed mine.

 

Using the stock tailgate bar I got mine to stay. Although it's quite tight, I'm planning on leaving it there for a while until it stretches a bit and settles. It was a major PITA to get everything together the first time though.

 

Not sure if it's applicable as all I have is the stock soft top on a 2 dr but I find it tons easier to zip the window first (with bar attached) to the top and then insert bar into tailgate. All of this while the front latches to the windshield are connected but not "latched"

Once all in the rear is done then latch (tighten) the front.

Bro, I really hope you're not trying to put the window in the c-channel with it zipped to the top and the bar already installed on the tailgate; yes, that's damn near impossible. Remove the bar from the tailgate, insert the c-channel and bear that sucker down.

If you have it, I highly recommend using a stock softtop tailgate bar and clips. I had ZERO issues with my NX fitting too tightly and with the stock bar, I can pop the rear window on/off just as quick as the old stock window.

 

I tried every order imaginable and I agree that one would be the most difficult. I first J-lined it, then tried putting the tailgate bar on. I had it on once, but it was a super hot day, the material was really stretchy and it took 2 of us with rubber mallets. But solo, it's pretty tough.

I guess I figured if it was "NX" that would have been the easiest step since most of us have suffered with tight zippers on the rear windows in various Jeep models (this is my 4th Jeep).

Appreciate the feedback brother. I'll try the stock bar tonight before I do any serious window mods.
