Default Any way to layer steel under sahara side steps?

I want some protection but at the same time I love the way the Sahara steps look (probably the only one on here that likes them) and hate to get rid of them.
Any way to add some armor under them?

I can but I don't have any tools or place to do it. I worked in a factory when I was in HS and learned how to weld, bend and all that…..just don’t have access to that kid of stuff.

If someone is willing to help me out, please PM me
