Default Bestop Trektop 2011 install problem?

I just installed a trektop on my 2011 unlimited. I have had it sitting in direct sunlight for nearly 3 hours. The issue I am having is with the front two lock down mechanisms. I can't get them to stretch far enough forward to lock the top. There is 2 30mm hand tightened nuts bolt things that hold the hinge, they become loose when trying to put the top down, which causes the locking points to move backwards.

Could someone with a trektop please enlighten me on how to latch the front??

Thanks!

Here is the 30mm plastic topped bolt which holds the hinge/sunrider to the jeep body. It has an area built in which looks like it should let it slide back and forth... However I have it adjusted at the tightest (which will reach the front of the jeep where the latches are)

when you go to put the front section down, the tension forces the mount point to move backwards, which places it JUST out of reach from the front hinge.

Any Ideas? I thought of cutting a washer to stick in the oval section to prevent the point where the hinge/sunrider part is.. however everything is plastic and I fear that if i do so, the whole thing might snap!.
