AEV Pro Cal with Superchips Flashpaq
When I installed my 33s, the aftermarket shop used the AEV Pro Cal to adjust the tire diameter and shift point settings. Now I'm ready for some additional power, so I ordered the Flashpaq...it arrives today. Based on the comments in this Forum, I plan on using the 87 octane setting.
A couple questions: 1) Since the AEV Pro Cal modified the stock settings, will the Flashpaq work when I first plug it in? 2) Before taking my JK back to the Jeep shop for routine maintenance, I plan on using the Flashpaq to restore the stock settings...however, those will be the Pro Cal settings, right? If that's the case, and the Jeep shop resets/updates/modifies the JK computer, will my Flashpaq still work after I get it back?
Thanks for any insight...

A ProCal is VIN locked once it is used. You are saying that the shop programmed your jeep, and actually kept the procal??? (this makes no sense, as they can not use it on any vehicle but yours...)
As far as using both, it should not be an issue. The procal has no tuning functions, so it will not interfere with the flashpaq tune. If your tire size is already set with the procal, setting it to the same size with the flashpaq should have no effect, since the computer already knows your current tire size. (I don't know if the flashpaq can/will overwrite the tire/gear settings of the procal, but that might be good to find out if you do not have access to the procal anymore).
As far as going back to stock for dealer visits, it is the flashpaq tune that you need to worry about. I don't believe that the procal needs to go back to stock for this.

Well, I went back to the shop, they tried to restore my Jeep to stock, and it wouldn't work. The guy at the shop said they had successfully used it yesterday, so he called his parts supplier. The supplier told him about the VIN lock, and now it all makes sense. Apparently it didn't lock to mine, but it did for the 2nd guy...so hopefully the shop is able to sell it to him so they aren't stuck with it!
Anyways, I connected the Flashpaq, changed the tire diameter setting and loaded the 87 Octane Tune - so far I'm very happy with the results!
