Which are better steel rims or al. Rims

I don't think one is "better" than the other. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

Alloys are lighter, steel wheels are heavier but stronger. In a bind a steel wheel can be beaten strait whereas an alloy wheel is pretty much done if you manage to bend it.

Steel is cheaper. But aluminum come in many more designs. Aluminum will also be lighter when they are the same size.

I used to run both, alloy for DD and light off-road trips and steel during the winter and long weekend trips where damage is more likely to happen.

I liked the steel in the winter because of the added weight. I also had a more aggressive tread pattern on the steel.

Now I run just alloy for the overall weight and look options -they have also improved on overall strength from many years ago....
