Default Why is my mpg so low?

I have a 2011 two door rubicon. Stock everything. I have just over 4k miles on it. My mpg is between 14.0-14.4. I find this rather low, compared to other threads I've read. I had rear ended someone a month ago, and the day after that, my mpg went from 15.5 to 14. Brought it to repair shop to get new bumper installed. They took it to the dealership, and they said nothing was wrong with it, and that it dropped so quick because I was idling at the accident site for over an hour. I think that's accurate, but a month later I'm still in the 14's... Is this normal?

IMO the computers MPG estimates are about as accurate as my spelleeing. Idling, especially in heat can make a dramatic effect on MPG's. I can guarantee you nothing from the accident affected you MPG's though. Just give a few months and that number should rise up a little at least. BTW, I average 13.

did you install a full metal bumper, that added weight plus your 4:10 rubi
gears might bring you down to 14 from the 17 others are getting.
i added 2 bumpers, 2 skid plates a light bar and im down to 11.

Its all in the driving. When my jeep was my wifes dd it had 3" lift w 33s and she was getting 14.3 with stock 3.73s. After 5.13s she was around 14.8. Now that the jeep has become a third vehicle and I primarlly drive it im getting 18 to 18.5 on the past couple tanks and thats with 5.5" of lift, 37-13.50 s, and 5.13s. I even got 16.2 a couple tanks ago with alot of beach ridding. Thats caculated not by the dash but mine seems pretty acurate within .5mpg most of the time. But check yours the old fashond way sometimes they can be way off.

how fast do you normally drive on the highway and, do you live in a town with a lot of hills and or stoplights? that'll make a big difference in your mpg.

Is that a roof light bar? Those things murder gas mileage.

This is my bumper.

No hills (South Louisiana). There is stop and go traffic but nothing out of the norm. Even on the interstate going 65-68 for 30 miles each way once a week, I only notice a .1-.2 increase. Maybe that's normal, not sure.

Assuming you do reset ur MPG meter when u fill up? I only get 13.5 in city driving but I was expecting this... you can't belive over half the MPG you read on forums... lots of ppl make up numbers because it makes them feel better I think.

Yes you need to reset between fill ups. Otherwise it just continues to average out for all the miles you have ever driven.
