Rough road for my rubicon.
Hello everyone! I couldn't find a place for intro with my jk forum iPhone app. So figured this was good a place as any.
I bought my 07 rubicon with 32k miles for 20k otd from a vw dealership about an hour away. On my commute home from the dealership, about 30 minutes in @ 65/70 mph I experienced the death wobble. This being my first jeep I was freaked out. I pull over and check for a blow out, flat, whatever I could think of. I call the vw dealer And there response was "oh we thought we took care of that". Ha! So I take it back the very next day, with a plethora of info from reading the jk forum over. They ended up replacing the steering stabilizer with "the upgraded beefier steering stabilizer" and checked the the tire pressure, balancing, trak bar and checked wheel alignment. I left the dealership and headed to my states inspection station. When I get there, both front tires have only 20 psi in them, so naturally I dial the dealership and call bull shit on everything but the steering stabilizer because I can see that they replaced this. I made an appointment to take it back and have them run over everything again. As if I can trust that they will actually do this. Irene hit us a day before my scheduled appointment for recheck and I woke up to a lake inside the truck. The dealership first tried to accuse me of riding through a "lake" of a puddle and then ate there words when. They did the water test. Apparently the jeep is leaking from every imaginable leakage point. The dealer has claimed to have lost money when they sold me the truck and are continuing to lose money due to the fact that I have brought back for issues and issues they corrected in order to sell it. Now the dealership is suggesting I should give it back so they can scrap it!!! I call bull shit on this as well. And plus they gave me a full 100% 2 month 2000 mile warranty.
So would you give it back? I don't feel like I could find a better deal but at the same time, what have I gotten into?
Sorry for the run on paragraph, grammar is not my strong point.

Sounds like you have a good idea of what a Jeep can be. DW with 20psi in the tires, Yes. Leaks, Yes. However the real opportunity here is to give it back and not have to put up with a dealer, a non-Jeep dealer that is that don't know a thing. I would take them up on their offer. Document, Document and Document everything. Get out and find another Jeep. my .02
Thanks, the bitch of it is, idk if the tire pressure was 20 psi when I experienced the death wobble, only that they told me that tire pressure was something they checked and they clearly had not. You're right, it's a vw dealership, but you would think they would still want to back a product they sold if they offer a 100% warranty on this product. And would want to see a happy customer and not lie to them. If they officially come back and say they want the truck back, I will probably say yes.
I'd definitely give it back, in a heartbeat! After that 2 month/2,000 mile warranty, if something major happens, you're screwed. Spend a few more bucks and get a brand new x with a real warranty.
I don't feel like I could find a better deal
Previous owner sold it because they were having issues.
Dealership obviously can not (or will not) fix those issues.
And yet you still want to keep it?
Here's your sign...
x2 on taking it back before you run out of warranty and more issues. dealerships work with each other, see if they'll find you another comparable jeep for same or better price.
Also, did you have a trade in and now will be without a car? make them give you a rental for minimum of 2 weeks so you can find another car or kick in extra $$$ on top of the refund to help. Be sure they will cut you check when you turn in the keys, Once they have the keys they can drag on payment leaving you with more headaches.
Last, find out if lemon law applies - document everything and see what you need to file if needed.
I'd also try to get more than you paid just for the hassles.

Man deals are out there i got a loaded 07 jku rubi with 19,500miles for $19,900 in 2008. The jku had the hard top on it. The non jeep dealer asked if i wanted the soft top too cus it was missing parts and broke.I said yeah. It was sitting next to their dumpster. One of the door surrounds was broke. When i got it home i noticed the hard top front panels had damage. When i called they lost money on the deal and couldn't help me out.
The top might not have been put on right on yours.
A freind picked up a 08 jku sahara for 24k with 22,000miles on it. already moded out (lift, rims, tires, bumpers, winch, cage, exhuast)
both jku had clear titles
