Default Do certain color Jeeps attract a$$hole drivers??

I have a 2011 Cosmos blue JKU. Not the easiest vehicle to miss. But lately I have had quite a few close calls with idiot drivers. For instance, a few weeks back my wife and I were stopped at a red light when the car in front of me started rolling back for no reason. I had to throw it in reverse to avoid getting hit. The driver didn't see me. Yesterday I was driving down the road and I could see a garbage truck in a parking lot a few hundred feet in front of me. Wouldn't you know it he pulled out right in front of me, he didn't see me. Today I am driving on a 2 lane same direction hwy in the right lane when out of nowhere some idiot in the left lane cuts right in front of me. I pulled along side him to ask what his deal was and of course, he didn't see me. Now this could all be coincidence, or the fact that I live in Jersey too. I never had any problems like this with my 07 Red Rock JKU. Anyone else have any opinions?

i hear ya!!! ya know i dont think its colors that attract dumbasses, i just think 80 percent of people on the road are dumbasses, I and my husband are on the road ALOT... and i swear ive had so many close calls i wont even waste your time with telling you all of them. people need to wake up , get off the phone, stop texting while driving and pay attention before you kill someone!!

From Wiki so take it with a grain of salt...

h ttps://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Automobile_safety

"The Vehicle Colour Study, conducted by Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) and published in 2007, analysed 855,258 accidents occurring between 1987 and 2004 in the Australian states of Victoria and Western Australia that resulted in injury or in a vehicle being towed away.[10] The study analysed risk by light condition. It found that in daylight black cars were 12% more likely than white to be involved in an accident, followed by grey cars at 11%, silver cars at 10%, and red and blue cars at 7%, with no other colors found to be significantly more or less risky than white. At dawn or dusk the risk ratio for black cars jumped to 47% more likely than white, and that for silver cars to 15%. In the hours of darkness only red and silver cars were found to be significantly more risky than white, by 10% and 8% respectively."

I don't think it's color related since I have the Deep Cherry Red and have had some of the same experiences. My Jeep sits higher and sticks out more than my old LR3 did, not to mention that it's more capable and cooler, yet it seems to attract or distract other drivers attention more.

Must just be another "Jeep Thing"

I seem to recall another study about colors having effects on people or the color denoting some personality traits. I *thought* blue was calming, soothing, caring. If there is any truth to this then you are most likely putting other drivers into a trace-like state. They may not necessarily be assholes just more susceptible to induced behaviors through sugestive color manipulation. Yeah that's it. 2 words on this; train horn

Have you noticed that a lot of emergency services are switching to white or yellow as the main colour for their fleets? Those two colours are the most likely to be seen by other drivers.
I personally feel that most drivers are too distracted with their electronics in the vehicle (ie: phone, ipod, radio, etc...). In Alberta, they have just put a law in place to punish idiots for texting or using the phone while driving.
Where I work, they just had the Parrot bluetooth device installed on the whole fleet of 50 vehicles.

The 2007s are old school...did you have the new "stealth mode" disengaged on your 2011? Should be on the dash console next to the front swaybar disco button.

I'd be interested to see how the percentage of vehicles in the colors indicated above sold more units than the less likely colors...meaning, there are more black vehicles sold (and on the road) than purple, so just by sheer numbers of vehicles on the road, black is XX% more likely to be involved in an accident than purple.

I love my electronic gizmos as much as anyone but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they put a nationwide ban on cellphone while driving unless you are over the age of 30 and only if handsfree. Texting, emailing, etc should never be allowed while driving.

At first, I thought you were talking about the driver of the jeep.
