Default Corporate 14 for JKs??

Anybody have any thoughts on this? I'll be putting a big hp motor in my JK and have been told that the motor that I'll be running will blow a D60 apart but will be fine for the front.. Everything I've ever read says a Corp 14 is absolutely bullet proof and can be shaved to give you just as much clearance, if not more, than a D60 and is tougher with more clearance than a D70 and D80.. Any problems with putting that in a JK? Thoughts?

I ran a built Dana 60 rear with 500hp and no problems. 35 spline mosier shafts. In my yj with 44"tsl's. I drove it like I stole it and never broke anything.

I think either or would be fine. What type of tire,engine combo are you planning?

No problems putting it under a Jk. Getting electronics to work could be a problem.

I have a buddy with a front d60 and rear 14 bolt out of an older chevy pickup.

Wish there was a way out of the electronics. I think Im trying to find a way to buy them and use them in a rig.

All my buddies run 60s in front, 14s in back, with v8's and those Corporate 14s are just monsters... I'll be at 500+ with a built LS3, 40" toto mt's, and with a 5500lb jk, I'm worried about even a beefed up, full float 60.. Another problem with the 60s is 5.38s are the lowest gear you can go.. I believe the c14s ring gears are 10.5 inches, much bigger than even a D80 - someone correct me if I'm wrong.. Just a monster axle.. What electronics would need to be fit into the c14 for the jk??

All the esp would be a nightmare to ditch. Unit bearings, sensors at all corners, new disc brake setup, knuckles. . .

Then again, maybe there would be a way to swap all the ls tangle over.

The c14 has a 10.5" ring gear, same as a d70 I beleive. The c14 is stronger than a d60 no doubt. I beat on my 60 with right at 500hp from a ls motor and 44" tires. Never broke it once.

I'm not sure about all the electric gizmos u would need to make it work. Someone who does will chime in hopefully. I prefer to get rid of as much of that stuff as I can and still have the jeep run.

FF 14b"s are bullet proof. I have broken several d60 Chromolly 35 spline fronts in my YJ and never a problem with the 14b with stock shafts. Thats with 400 hp, 42'S and low crawl ratio.

Only problem is ground clearance, even with 42"s.

Running the 99-03 SuperDuty Super 60 in the front of my JK. Completely ABS/ESP compliant with a little help from Currie. Very simple really. Just source the front unitized wheel bearings and stub shafts from Currie and it all bolts right on. Uses stock JK speed sensor installed backwards.

I'm building a 14 bolt for the rear. Not a difficult problem for the abs/esp. Just need a tone ring and mount for a speed sensor. The rest is easy.

The 14 bolt being the most bomb proof 1 ton axle isn't the ring gear size but rather the 3 bearings on the pinion gear instead of 2 *it supports both sides of the pinion gear so there is NO FLEX* . The only other axle I know to do that is the Ford 9". Which is why the Ford 9" is a popular axle. Also easier to build because of the 3rd member. Either axle should be fine for your application.

River Raider makes a front 60 / rear 14 conversion kit. Might be worth a look.
