Default Non-dot approved tires

Here's the deal my buddy works for a race team and he can get me a set of 35s general grabbers for super cheap, the catch however is that these are shortcoarse tires and not street legal. My question is anyone on here running non street legal tires and if so have you ran into trouble with the cops about it and does anyone know the consequences if busted? Thanks in advance

God forbid one of these blows and you hit someone on the street. You'd be pretty much done.

Not sure how I feel about them not being DOT approved, however I would be shocked if any cop has ever even taken the time to look for it on the sidewall. I imagine the worst that could come of it would be the dreaded "fix it" ticket lick the kind you get for too dark window tint, or burnt out lights.

Johnny is right. And you can't claim you didn't know they weren't dot approved, ignorance isn't a defense. But I can tell you almost no cop would notice a difference.

Loud on the highway.
Sticky on the trail.

Ignorance of the law, is no excuse... nice try

...but as others have said, it is very unlikely they would be noticed
