Default Poison Spyder Brawler Rockers - Steel or Aluminum

Jeep JK's, especially the long wheelbase 4-door Unlimited, are extremely vulnerable to rocker armor damage on the trail. Poison Spyder Brawler Rockers™ provide the ultimate rocker armor protection while actually enhancing your Jeep's off-road capability—not to mention they look bad-ass!

Brawler Rockers™ are two-piece "mini-boatside" style rocker armor. Each component is fabricated entirely of CNC-laser cut, precision brake-formed 3/16" plate. The upper piece fits the lower section of your Jeep's exterior sheetmetal like a glove, conforming to the sublte curvature of the JK and providing protection similar to Poison Spyder's JK Body Armor™. The lower piece incorporates a rub rail/step that protrudes about 3¼" outboard of the Jeep's body tub. The top surface of the rub rail may also serve as an entry step. Below, the brake-formed 3/16" plate material angles down and inward to form a high clearance boatside. Inside, an array of beefy 3/16" thick internal gussets provide extra strength to the Brawler Rocker™. Oval lightning holes along the length of the boatside section provide great Poison Spyder looks while allowing access to hose out mud and debris after a day on the trail. The ends of the Brawler Rockers are capped in the same 3/16" plate material, in angled facets that allow up to a 40" tire and visually integrate with the lines of Poison Spyder front and rear JK Crusher Flares™.

The upper piece attaches to the body tub using supplied stainless steel flat-head cap screws and nut-serts. The lower piece attaches to the upper piece also with stainless steel flat-head cap screws and easy-to-install clip-nuts. All fastener holes are countersunk for a flat surface using the flat-head hardware. Underneath, the lower piece attaches at the Jeep's body mounts. Attaching the Brawler Rockers™ in this way, along several different planes, provides triangulated strength to the entire assembly. The body-mount tie-ins ensure that they are securely integrated to the strongest structural component of the Jeep—the frame—while also allowing the Brawler Rocker™ to hug the body tub as closely as possible, and to move upward with it in the event that a body lift is installed.

Poison Spyder Brawler Rockers™ are available in either heavy duty steel or light-weight aluminum. Features and construction are exactly identical for both versions, the only exception being the material used; either 3/16" thick aluminum plate or 3/16" thick steel plate. Aluminum would be preferred by those who want the bad-ass looks, entry step functionality and a very significant weight savings, but can live with an admittedly reduced measure of rocker armor durability and protection compared to the steel versions. For those who will be testing their Jeeps on tougher trails where frequent contact with the rocks is to be expected, we highly recommend opting for the steel versions. While the aluminum is a respectable 3/16" thick, it should not be expected to withstand the same amount of punishment that our steel Brawler Rockers can handle.

Rubber Body Armor Liners are available to place between the upper plate of the Brawler Rockers and your Jeep's sheetmetal. These liners help keep moisture and debris from collecting behind the metal plates, and prevent metal-on-metal rubbing which can lead to wear of the painted surfaces, and eventually rust. Brawler Rockers™ ship bare, allowing you to paint or powdercoat in the color of your choice. Note that if you have previously installed Poison Spyder's JK Body Armor, you will be able to re-use the existing nut-serts, saving a significant amount of installation time (Body Armor will have to be removed).

I had these installed on my JK and I love them. The only concern that I have is the installer didn't follow Poison Spyder's install directions. He didn't paint the drilled holes before he put the nutserts in. I didn't find this out until after the work was done. I'm hoping that I don't have rust issues down the road.

My guess is you'll be fine. The nut-sert crushes around the hole well enough that it probably sealed up around the cut edges of the hole. If a problem does arise, it would probably be years down the road, after you've moved on to a new 2020 Wrangler!

Thanks. Glad to hear that. I was worried that my 2012 would start rusting before 2012 even got here. I really like how the Brawler Rockers look on my Jeep. I like them because not only do they protect my Jeep while offroading, I don't get the door dings from other cars in the mall parking lot either . My wife loves them because they help her get into the Jeep a little easier. Great Product.

This is one of the reasons why I'm scared to drill into the tub of the JK. If I take it somewhere will that shop do a good job or if I do it myself will I jack up one of the nutserts and ruin everything. (Sigh) I just wish you guys where closer so I can just drive over to your shop and have you guys do the install.

Can these be installed/purchased without the upper portion that mounts to the body? I'm just not a fan of the look.
