i have a set of 37 13.5 load range e toyos on a 9 inch wide rim on my 2 door. i have run them for 400 miles at 24 psi and still have haies all along the outer tread of the tire. all the rubber haires have worn off in the center but the outer ones still remain. i have now gone down to 22 psi to see if the wear will be even.


Am i running too low to of road driving? how else can i get proper wear?

 

a friend of mine had the 37 toyo mts 14.5 wide though, he ran them around that pressure on road to get even wear and he had a 10" wide wheel i wouldn't see why it would hurt anything i know its a different tire and all but ive ran as low as 28 on mine to get even wear and i have 35 at's 12.5 wide on a stock steal wheel maybe someone else can chime in but i think it would be fine

 

I run 22-25psi in 40"s (load range C) on the street. I initially ran 28-30psi when I first got them and it was a horribly rough ride. Took them down below 25psi and it made a huge difference. No problems with the tires feeling too soft or squishy in turns, sidewalls look about like you want them for the street, and the contact patch after a quick chalk test is just about perfect for even wear at all four corners. My 4 door is fairly heavy too with the ProRock 60's. I would not think that 22psi is too low, especially on load range E tires

 

That's fine. I'm the guy Cdyspd mentioned and ran my Toyos 21 front and 19 rear to get a full contact patch. And with your load range E tire that would not be any problem since it is rated so high anyways.

 

How often are you rotating them , I ran my toyo 35 at 28 cold and got over 40000 miles my 37 I run the same and they are wearing good I am on a 8.5" rim

 

I think the low pressure would be fine except extended road trips where low pressure + long time at highway speeds might cause excessive heat. But in general those E rated tires are stiff as heck and can be run at lower pressures on a smaller vehicle that's not heavily loaded. Even on my pickups I'd run the rears 15lbs lower than the fronts when I wasn't loaded or towing (for example) for a smoother ride since the backend was light.

 

I run my 285/70/17 E rated at 30-32psi and they are wearing great

 

with toyo's? yeah, you'll be fine. i run my 40's at about 24-26 psi and, i've even run them at about 5 psi for about 100 miles before
