AEV Premium Bumper Install, Shipping, Weight, Etc
Hey Folks,
I just called and spoke to Mike at AEV this afternoon about wheels and bumper.
I'm planning on installing their Premium Bumper. I read the directions several times posted on the site. So really...how had of an install is this going to be? Is this something that I could do in my garage with a good collection tools and a breaker bar? Or do I need air-tools and cutting wheels? I heard that many guys didn't need to cut. Is this something that a shop would have to do?
Also...what is the "real weight" of this product? Mike said that the shipping weight is 116 lbs (that includes all the shipping materials), but not the actual weight. Off-hand they didn't know the exact weight.

I installed mine by myself in about an hour and a half. Pretty easy install. Bumper probably weighs about 100lbs. You won't regret getting it. It's a great bumper. If you have any more questions let me know.
Thanks for the input. So did you have to make any cuts or alterations with a cutting wheel? Or was it just a rip & replace? If it's just a R&R I could do that.
I will not be installing the winch mount or the skidplate (for now). I read the directions and there is one part that details a cut. However, I am not sure if that is for the skidplate.
I saw this write-up:

You're looking at mine. Did it by myself this July. No winch. Have the AEV rear bumper (no tire carrier) also and added the matching splash guards. Great company, quality materials so might go for their 2" lift and front geometric crontrol arm brackets. Can't recall any install issues, maybe like having to cut the cable sheath and pull out more wire length to fit then tweaking the alignment of the fog lights. Enjoy!

Did this install few weeks ago on my 2010 Rubi, fairly easy. On you 2012 you will need a grinder and cutoff wheel to modify a cross beam, and in addition to this on the 2012 models there is a filter or pump that will need relocated. I know this because i received additional pieces and instructions for this part. BTW i got a good deal on this through Northridge and shipping was FREE. Good luck, post pics when done. But all in all to answer question in OP; yea you can do it in your garage, great looking bumper.
