Can tailgate handle a 35
I have the extension bracket for my tailgate to fit a 35. I had mine on and took it off cause it seemed very heavy. Can the gate handle the 35 or do I need a carrier?
I would get a carrier. It's like playing with fire using the stocker. I have a 35 on my stock carrier for now and I get nervous every time I hit a bump and it rattles. It seems like some have problems right off the bat and others last a while. Mines been on a year and a half
running the extension bracket is probably the worst thing you can do to run a 35 on the tailgate UNLESS you have rubber isolator extensions installed. while the weight in general will be a problem for the tailgate in general, it's the jiggling it sees from your spare hanging out there that will cause the metal to fatigue and cause breaks sooner than later. best option is to get some kind of tire carrier.
I'm running the stop carrier with the Daystar extended bump stops and haven't had an issue yet. But as soon as I have the flexible funds a carrier will be picked up. I've seen the results on other JK's of extended time of rattling.
