Default 17" AEV Pintler w/ 35" on stock tire carrier

Is anybody running a 17" AEV Pintler with a 35" tire on the stock carrier? This wheel has 4.7" backspacing.

If yes, did you just have to trim/tweak the bump stops on the door?

I have the beadlock version but the backspace is the same I believe. I have the Daystar tailgate bumpstops trimmed to keep the tire snug. No need for an extended bracket or anything like that.

I am running the 17" AEV Pintlers and BFG A/T KOs that are 34.5"

The bump stops are about 1/2" shy of touching the tire on both sides.

No Issues

My tailgate would not close with the Pintler 35 MTRK combo mounted to stock carrier.

Was it hitting the bumper?

My stops are just touching. But my tire has around 1/8 of an inch space below the tire and just touches against the back of the cut out.

I ran pintler with 35" trail grappler on mine for about a week. Hit the stock bumper but still closed. The angle it was at becasue of contact with the bumper busted out my third brake light housing in less than a week. I will not run a true 35" tire on teh stock carrier again. Too heavy for the tailgate over time. I did not run a spare until I got my tire swing and bumper. Others do this for years with no issues. I think as long as you clear the bumper and can put up with the constant rattle over bumps, it should all be fine, but I would not do it for too long
