Default Ride quality with bigger tires

I have cocerns about losing the limited ride quality there is in a jeep when I go to upgrade my tire the current ones have a load and speed rating of 104s. A lot of the large all terrain tires have D and E rating which are 10 ply sidewalls. Any suggestions. I currently have a stock JK with 225/75r16 and I'm thinking of the Falken High Country 255/70r16 109t and no plans of lifting at this time. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

Falkens have a great ride quality but you don't get the beefy look compared to others. The Falkens also weigh quite a bit more than others and don't measure to a full size.

Example

I had
Falken Rocky Mountains
315-70-17 (35" tire) measures to 33 1/4
Weighs in at 72 pounds a tire

I have
Goodyear Duratracs
315-70-17 (35" tire) measures to 34.5
Weighs in at 60 pounds a tire

I actually like the ride quality with the Duratracs a little more

Both tires have little to no noise on Road compared to other brands. The Falken is more quite though.

If you are looking for a great tire that performs well off road and on pavement and wanting that tread warranty the Falken Rocky Mountains hands down are the way to go. They look better than a street tire, the cost is better than others, 50k tread warranty when a mud terrain has 0. I would buy this tire over any all terrain tire on the market

Hopefully this all helps you out.

I went with the 315/70/17 BFG A/T KOs. When I first got it back from the tire shop the ride was a little rough because they had pumped them up to about 40psi. I lowered that to 30psi and the ride is not bad at all. I really do not notice much difference from the stock Bridgestone Dueller 18"s that I had on there before the change. They were 32s and I moved up to a 34.5 Feels about the same.

If I were you I'd be looking for some take-off from a wrangler that has the 255/75/17 At, there a nice all around tire and plenty of new take-off for sale both wheel & tire in the $600 range.

On craigslist here you can get the factory take offs with little to no miles, with the factory 5 star (including the tpms) for $300 all the time

I run E-rated tires and don't understand why so many people complain about them. Yes they are stiff but if you get the air pressure right they are fine. You want to feel rough go drive a cj or yj...

I love my Yokohama Geolandar AT-S tires. Great highway ride, lighter than most, cheaper than most, and aggressive enough for me. Go to Discount Tire Direct and you won't be disappointed
