Default 15x8" Rim for 35x12.50 Tires?

Hey Guys,

I know there are tons of threads on here explaining that a 15x8" rim is fine for this size tire. What i'm really looking for is whether this rim/tire combo will work well for a jeep that is mainly a daily driver? I would assume that since there is so much more sidewall than on say, a 17" or 18" rim, it might feel more unstable on pavement. Am I gonna run into issues with this setup or should it work as a DD?

It all depends on what 15" rim you get.. Some have a hard time clearing the caliper without shaving it...

Durn phone.. I've got 35x12.50x17 on my DD with no issues and know many people who run 15x8 rims with no issues... A good friend of mine runs a 15x10 rim... It's really about personal choice..

Yea that's what I figured. I knew it was possible, I just wasn't sure if a taller rim would make for a more comfortable ride when on the road.

A 15x8" will work, but a 10" wide wheel will enable you to run higher pressures and maintain tread contact with the road all the way to the edges. That will give you better on road handling as well as longer tire life. Most of run 8" wide wheels because the narrower rim is more apt to keep the bead seated at low offroad pressures.

So a 10" wide rim would be preferable if the jeep is mainly a DD? The off roading I will be doing won't require airing down so I guess that kinda throws out the advantages of the 8".

Yep. I think you'd be better off for your plans.

I run a 15x8 with a 35x12.5 tire and its not bad in terms of sidewall flex and on road driving manners. The 15/ 35 combo is also perfect offroad because you can get a ton of sidewall flex without bashing the rims.

Now if I could do it over, I would have gotten a 15x10 instead because my Jeep is my DD and I would like a wider rim to keep the tire from crowning at anything over 30 psi. If it crowns it starts to get a bit flighty at high speed and it causes uneven tread wear.

I would agree with Karl and advise going with a 15x10 inch rim for a DD

I run a 15x10 with 35x12.5 KM2s and I dropped them down to 15psi over a 2 day wheeling trip no problem and had a ton more sidewall flex the the 17 and 18 inch wheel guys.
