Default Which Drive Shaft Do I Want?

I'm shopping for a new front drive shaft and wanted to put this question out there before I make a purchase. I run a Teraflex u-joint in the rear, and I've had to get it rebuilt twice already; it's also high-maintenance as it slings grease like no other. Even in a cold climate, I have to pull it and grease it about two times per oil change. As much as I love Teraflex, this is getting to be kind of a headache, and I'd rather not have to go through all this with the front one as well. I've had a couple people recommend that I get a "Woody" this time. What do y'all think?

Thanks.

Spicer makes some sealed u-joints. Run them for a year or two until they fail, and then replace. Might be an option if you don't want to drop the shaft and grease. Ask for them from whichever driveshaft mfg you go with, or just have your local driveline shop swap out your current joints.

I guess the positive is also a negative, as you can't service them after trips through mud/water or that nasty winter road-salt/sand. Don't know how well they are sealed or if that is an issue, just thinking...

As far as Woods goes, I have had one up front for about two years. Great shaft so far, but the goldeals do have zerks and will need to be maintained. If you want the sealed spicers instead, just ask for them.

I like my tatton front driveshaft, no problems but have only had it for a month. They use spicers joints, and its a very high quality shaft. I went with a double cardan.

I vote for a Coast drive shaft thru David @ Northridge They use sealed Spicer components which should last quite a while Be sure to set your pinion angle to zero with the double Cardan setup so vibrations are not an issue. (maybe that's why your Teraflex unit is slinging so much grease?)

X2 on Coast. I bought my front shaft direct from Caost Driveline. Very reasonable cost, good components and quick shipping. I installed mine 3 months ago and so far, no problems at all. That said, I will be ordering a rear from them as well. Good luck!

I just installed a Tom Woods front driveshaft on my JK and it's awesome. Tom is a very stand up guy and stands behind his drive shafts 100%. I highly recommend it.

All of these double cardens sling alot of grease if you grease them regularly, nature of the beast. You can get the sealed spicer joints, but you still have to grease the center ball on the double carden which is where most of the grease slingin comes from. I'm pretty sure the TF shafts are made by Tatton btw.
Also, I grease my tera shafts every oil change, no issues, no rebuilds.
Only issue I had at one time was my front tera shaft had a balance prob, returned it and they shipped another one out quickly, no issues outta this one whatsoever.
