Default 2012 5-speed in older JK

So looking at the new gear chart for the 2012 JK it looks like you would not need to regear it until you get some very large tires. That brings me to my question.

Would the 2012 5-speed auto bolt up to the 3.8 in a 2010 jk? To get a slightly used NAG1 Transmission is only about $1200. Which would be a little cheaper then regearing. But what would be the other parts you would need, or has anyone even considered this option.

I'd imagine you'd have to have an adapter plate made up to mate them. More importantly though is getting the older ECM programmed so it will use all the gears in the new tranny (for an auto).

all these trannys are hooked into the computer nowadays!

It would be way more trouble than its worth. And very expensive when all is said and done
