My 33/12.50/15 Duratracs with alloy wheels only weigh 6-7 lbs more than stock steel wheels and tires.

Yup. DuraTracs are about as light as you'll find. Plus they look kinda mean...

JP did the research 2 or 3 months back and I did mine as well.. I concur, Duratracs.. Kelly safari as well, but they use the same carcass, so it only makes sense. Kelly is owned by GY..

Keep in mind though if you plan on wheeling it hard the carcass isnt as durable as many of the other heavier ones.. I looked at Trail Grapplers and Falkens both approx 15-20lbs per tire heavier in a 35".. so it was significant, but they are more durable and JP found about 1 MPG difference and braking efficiency would also be decreased..

The GY Duratracs 33x12.5x15s weight about 49lbs. I looked into the Durtracs in a 17" tires a while back but they were on back order. I went with the BFG A/T KOs. In the size above the BFG's wieght 53lbs. Only four pound difference and they last a good while. Just another option when looking for an A/T tire.

Yeah, that's what I'm headed for if they push back the ship date on the DT's one more time. Two reasons I've held out so long:

1. I live in Wisconsin and like the DT's better cuz of their snow qualities.
2. I'm stubborn as hell.

Hm...looks like I'll be going with the GY's. I'll be doing mostly highway, mud, and trails.

I know that having heavier wheel/tire combo multiplies the effect compared to just having weight in the cab, front, or rear. I need to keep the wheels spinning fast in the mud.
