Default New Lift = More travel?

I'm seriously considering going to a 3" lift w/control arms (4).
The main contenders are: EVO Enforcer, TeraFlex 3" w/4 flex arms, and Full Traction Premium Plus.

Anyone know if the travel will be significantly improved by going this route?
Suggestions?

My current set-up is ok, but I would like more:

It all depends on long of shocks and how much bumpstops your using.

If you have any specific questions on our kits, please let me know. We run a 27.5" long shock with our 3" kits.

Not looking at changing shocks, I'm running Bilstein 5100's. I believe they are good up to a 4" lift.

I'm renewing this thread because I'm still wondering.....

I understand you limit wheel travel (up) with bumpstops. But if you install a taller lift, and longer travel shocks, would you keep the same bumpstop or can you go with a shorter stop?
I definately don't want to have my Bilsteins bottom out!

At the other end, is it ok to allow the shocks to limit wheel travel at full droop ? Or should you go with some sort of limit strap?

You would have to know compressed vs. free length of springs, and the compressed vs. free length of shocks.

Basically, while travel is truly limited by your shocks, the final factor is your free spring length. If your shock droops further than the free length of your spring, you will drop your spring on the trail (unless you have retainers, then you get a nice spring loaded limiter)

For the max travel of any suspension, without retainers, I would measure the spring length completely unloaded, then at full compression to the bumpstops. The difference is the max you will get from that coil.

Just checked the specs on my Bilsteins

I was hoping to get about 12" of travel. No can do with the Bilsteins I have :

collasped length = 14.98"
extended length = 24.63"

Not even 10" of travel in my shocks.

Now I'll have to get shocks with the lift kit

I don't think your going to get much more without coil overs

An that's shocks. Ultimately you need to know the max travel distance of your springs and then choose shocks from there.
