Default Structural Integrity of Tube Doors?

Im just wondering if anyone knows if there were any safety constraints in the manufacture of tube doors? I know theyre made from steel tubing so theyre pretty strong, but idk if any of the designs of the doors were made to withstand a side impact? thoughts?

I doubt any of them are designed to withstand side impacts. Hell, the OEM doors I believe aren't either. They're there strictly as protection from the elements unless you get the optional side air bags.

X2

The tube doors are to keep you from falling out not protect you from the side impact of a 4k-5k pound vehicle. Like he said the stock doors barely provide any protection in a side impact and having side airbags helps a little. The main thing that saves you in a side impact in any suv is that you sit higher and don't bear the brunt of an impact from a car, if it's another suv or truck that t-bones you then all bets are off.

Even though they're zero help in a crash, I love my tube doors.

One of the reasons I got side airbags in this Jeep.

Wow. Reminds me of cattle grates on the ranch in TX when I was kid. They look sturdy.
