Default OR-Fab or XRC carrier

So I need to pick one or the other up thus weekend so I can mount my 35 spare. I have them priced from the local 4 wheel parts at 475 out the door for OR-Fab or 800 out the door for smittybilt XRC bumper and carrier. So what would you guys pick? How is the above pricing?

Install isn't a problem on either although I do like the fact that I wouldn't have to drill into the body with the XRC. Thanks for all input!

If I were buying right now, I would get the OR-Fab. I just like the look.

You cannot go wrong with OR FAB. Hell GCM2 carries a 40 and has had no issues with that carrier. I too will have that.

I have the OR-Fab. It took 2 of us to get it on...extra set of hands is nice! I like it. I would have to say if you go with this, have the spray can paint color of your jeep handy. When you take off the hinges, you will likely find oxidization and want to hit it with paint, plus you might have to grind on those hinges and you want to protect it. I have 35 Procomp Extreme ATs on it and haven't had any issues as of yet. Installed it this summer. I did a write up and some others have as well on the Or Fab. Good luck!

I just installed the OrFab tire carrier with rotopax cans. I love it. It does not rattle at all.

Drilling didn't bother me since I have already drilled holes for AEV corners and other stuff.

Thanks for the quick replies. I was leaning towards the orfab but the guys a 4 wheel said it was "cheap". I've read nothing but good things about it though. How is 475 out the door for it?

Anyone have experience with the XRC?

I like my OR-Fab. It's pretty sturdy and I can strap a lot of stuff to it. The tire sticks out a bit on the can version, so if you need a really steep departure angle stick with the non can.

The price they are offering you for the OrFab tire carrier is good. It is not "cheap" it is a well made product.

The XRC is a smittybilt product. There is nothing wrong with them, but 4 wheel parts owns them I think. They are Chinese made. I have their front bumper (XRC) and like it. Some people complain about the finish or the the fit of the tire carrier or the handle, but Smittybilt seems to have reasonably tried to take care of those customers. There are a few threads out there when someone has an issue.

Also most, if not all, bumper tire carriers seem to rattle (OrFab and AEV seem to be exceptions due to their mounting designs). It is the nature of most tire carrier designs to rattle. They have attachment points from the bottom of the tire carrier to the bumper, while the tire (ie weight) is sitting up several feet. This makes it wobble/rattle.

I have the Smittybilt XRC. Its a good product, but the latch keeps working itself loose. Kind of a pain. The price seems really steep though. I think I paid that for both front and rear bumber/tire carrier.

I cant speak for the Or-Fab tire carrier, but I do have the rocker guards which are nice.

I love my Or-Fab carrier I have the one that can hold two gerry cans. It does not rattle and is a very solid product. I will say it is kind of a pain in the a$$ to install by yourself but well worth it in the end you also need to read and re-read the instructions very well and triple measure everything. if you want anymore info or pictures let me know I'm on my phone and don't have any on here of it close up but I do have one at a distance. I made my third brake light from the stock carrier for about $ 10 give or take a few and the last picture you can see.the brake light at a distance like I said if you want more just let me know
