POLL: how many wheel 35s with stock D30 and no problems
I'm getting the itch to mod again and was considering gusseting and sleeving my D30. I was thinking of doing these mods when I re-gear, but would like to spend the money somewhere else if I don't really have to sleeve my D30.
Can I get away with just gussets for mild trails?
Thanks

I've got sleeves and gussets and it has been ok. I broke a stock shaft then upgraded to chromoly shafts and haven't broken another one since. My driver's side inner C is bent but I think that happened before I gusseted them.

i just have stock 30 front and 44 rear running 35. been off roading about 6 times on rocky mostly flat terrian, nothing like moab. i don't spin wheels and very cautious of trails i do. on the East coast were i live trails are rated color like ski slopes. so you have green (stock) - fireroads, blue (stock / small lift 2.5 inch and 33 -35 tires)- rocky, puddles. easy black 2.5 lift 35 tires, minimum. harder black - your into bigger lifts and tires and lockers, winch etc, then you have red. red is geared towards the comp. vehicles. maybe when i get to wheeling more i may do gussetts and all but for the 4 or 5 times a year i go, not worth it to me right now.

I only have gussets on mine and they are fine. I have been running mine like that for almost a year now. I will be upgrading to chromoly axles soon, so that should beef it up a little more.
