Can 315 75r16 BFG A/T's fit safely on the factory 16" wheels? I am putting the TF 2.5 Coil lift w/ 1.5" spacers. Every thread goes back to the same conversation about will the tires fit under the rig. That is not what I am looking for, just if the tires will fit on the wheels.

yup no worries i run my psi at 30 front and 28 rear i get a pretty good even wear that way on road in sand i can go to 8psi no worries and rocks 12 no worries

I had 8" wide wheels with that size tire a few years ago, and it was fine. Some chain tire shops will tell you it's unsafe to run that tire on the factory 16x7" rim recommended width is 8.5". I would look into a cheap steel aftermarket wheel if you are planning on running a tire that big, they will only be $100-150 more than buying a set of wheel spacers. I would say it's possible, but you would have to find a tire shop willing to mount them. I am running a 33x12.50R15 on a 15x7.5" rim, a lot of people wouldn't recommend that...

 

I am still trying to research before I just go out and buy them. I accually like the stock wheels. That's why I wanted to keep them. What is an alternative tire of similar size (34-35) that might be a little narrower?

 

running those tires on stock 16" rims is no different then the loads of people running 35's or 37s on the stock 17s with wheel spacers its all up to you and what you like.i like the way they look on the stock rims for now and it was cheaper to buy spacers then new rims ( got the spacers used from a friend). like i said as long as you adjust the air pressure so you can get an even wear you will be fine and your tires will not chop or wear funny. you can perform the chalk test to see what pressure you need in your tires

 

Lots of people run wide tires on narrow rims with no problems. The only issue you may have is your installer seeing the specs for those tires
and refusing to mount them.

Assuming your installer ignores the mfg's recommendation, you're good to go.

Agreed! My local Discount Tire wouldn't mount 285/75/16 on mine

I had to settle for 265/75/16s. Not much difference in height anyway, so I'm not complaining.

 

Funny I hear that discount tire wouldn't mount these. That's who did mine drove all the way from northern BC Canada to Silverdale Washington (not a coincidence that Northride4x4 is there) and back so I would have been really upset if they wouldn't mount them. I did call ahead and ask though because I was afraid of this. So far no issues but some of the wheels took a huge pile of weights to balance. I also run around 28 psi street.
