Default Nitro sleeves + BFH = Successfully strengthening axles?

This looks like a good opportunity to damage my elbow again:

I don't have rosette welding skills (actually, just about zero welding skills). Can't afford the labor to have someone do it for me. This just might be the ticket for an affordable reinforced front axle.

Has anybody any experience with beat-in sleeves? Is there a down side?

I've read a lot about them, here and elsewhere, IMO there just as good as the weld in sleeves. As I have read, just clean out the tubes real well and mabe take a grinder and just barely bevel the inserting edge of the tube a bit. I've also read freezing them before hand to shrink them down, which makes sence.

Agreed, freezing them will def help, unless you're installing them this time of year, then you're SOL...

Thinking of it as well. We have a -50 deg F freezer at work that we use to freeze spherical bearings for rotor heads before installing. These sleeves should slide right in at -50.

About to pull the plug on these; major labor savings; time and/or $$
