Default sorry if this repost but 15 vs 16 vs 17

Ok we are all in agreement that a 33 x 12.50 is 33 no mater what rim but what are the benefits of a bigger rim ? Example i can save like 350 on wheels/tires/mounted balanced etc if i get 15's vs the 16....

So when all is said and done what are the pro and cons.. if this is a repost sorry!!!

Default 17's?

I picked up 17 because it's the new "hottness" and I liked it. I've heard all kinds of things but since the 07 and 08 have been out I've seen people run all 3 sizes with no complaints. Are 15" big enough to clear the disc brakes and hardware?

Default depends on the offset

I know I wanted to go with 15"s but you have to get the right offset if your set on 15"s. When it came down to it I went with 17"s because you don't have to worry about offset as much. They also look pretty good on JK's . No JK is being made with 15"s.........Sure it costs more but you only live a hundred years MAX! Go for it!!!!!!

i think the offset or backspacing is 3.75... will that clear the breaks? I see there are quite a few guys running cragar 15 soft 8's and some guys running pro comps that are 15's maybe they will chime in..

It will mostly be 80% road and 20% offroad maybe i should think about the 16 or 17 then if the... oh yeah i was looking at the cooper stt2 with american eagle wheels

Another advantage to larger rims is acceleration and power. Tires weigh more than aluminum rims, so the more rim, the less tire, and therefore less weight. Since the weight of wheels and tires is all rotational mass that must be spun up to speed when you accelerate, less is better.

If your rig is primarily intended for offroad, this is not that big a deal and more sidewall and less rim is where you want to be.
