Do I need a tire carrier?
After waiting almost 5 months for delivery, last Tuesday my stock 2012 JK finally turned up at the dealers in England. So, it was straight off to my local garage with a van load of mods that had been shipped from the US and stored in my garage for month's. Today I noticed the 33" (285/70/17) tires on KMC Addicts (-12 offset) don't touch the rubber stoppers on the tailgate. There's a gap of about 3 inches, I'm afraid the weight of the wheel and tire will damage the tailgate. Will I need to order a tire carrier? If so is Rugged Ridge OK?

I don't think weight would be an issue as much as stability. I am a fan of the daystar bump stops myself. They are much longer and can be cut to fit just about any offset. That and they only run $15. But in the long run if you plan on going 35's or bigger, a carrier wouldn't hurt

Nice rig btw.

Not a huge fan of the Daystar Isolators, but I'm sure they saved my tailgate until I had a tire carrier. If you have the cash I'd get a tire carrier sooner rather than later, and if not I would order up the Daystars immediately.
I read somewhere a while back that the max weight the tire carrier could support was around 50-70 pounds. However, I have 33's on my stock carrier. You absolutely should look into the re-enforcing kit and bump stops that will reach the tire. The re-enforcing kit is a set of steel plates that attach behind the tire carrier inside the gate. It's been about two years since I did this. Every time I rotate my tires I check for any damage. None so far. Very good investment. I've seen tailgates that the spare had rippled or just about pulled off. Don't go there. Good luck.
