Jk newbie help. Are my mods ok?
Hi guys. First off I love this site. Plenty of good reading. This is my first jk. Here is the specs on my jeep. I'm waiting on it to be built but I'm trying to get everything ready for its arrival. It's a 2012 BFG sport S with an Auto. I got the max tow package with the 3.73's. Here is my driving habits. I only put about 6k miles a year on my car because I only work a couple miles from my house. Pretty much never offroad and am not an aggressive driver ( on my daily driver). Here's what I want to do. 3.25" Rough country lift, 18x9 xd wheels 0 offset, 35x12.50r18 toyo mt's, and a aev programmer. I would go 33's but I have a brand new set of toyos in my garage. I have had to save and work hard for this jeep. I would of got a rubi for 4.10's and get a better lift but it's not in the budget. Do you guys think this set up will be ok for my driving style?
Also does 29k out the door sound like a good deal? Used tread lightly and added hard top, power convenience group, max tow, and auto tranny.
Thank you guys for your input.
P.s. I know some of you are wondering why I would want to do this to the jeep if it's not going to be offroad much. I am a jeep lover and my family has always driven them. I have always had some type of cj in the garage to go have fun with. So as a jeep lover I wanted my dd to still be a bada$# jeep.

welcome to the forum. being that you're getting a 2012, you should be okay with that setup but, you will want to get new u-joint style drive shafts. with that much lift, your front drive shaft will most likely make contact with your exhaust crossover coming out of a drive way and the angle placed on the cv boot will cause it to fail prematurely. also, assuming you are getting a 2-door, the rear shaft will sit at a significant angle can it will fail sooner than later too - this is without doing any off roading.

...... Best of luck, welcome to the forum and read your heart out, you will learn a lot here.
Thanks guys. I did forget to mention its a 4dr unlimited. That's why I was hoping not to change the shafts. I would get a smaller lift but I think with 35's that extra 1" makes it look proportional IMO. I heard it get close to the exhaust but I thought it wasn't that much of a issue with an jku

Ok. What do you think about a 2.5" spacer kit with a 1.25" body. Just thinking I want to keep this thing as stock as possible and not mess with the drive line or exhaust. I wont even need new shocks lol. I know this route would not be good for wheeling but for my driving style this might be perfect. I actually just thought about it. Quite cheap also. Any thoughts please

RC springs will sag a lot I would recommend a better quality lift even just for mostly on road. Your handling will be a lot better. RK makes really great springs as do a few other companies.
On the 2012 you will have to modify the exhaust because the DS will hit. AFE makes a Y-pipe replacement to move it back out of the way. If its not in the budget you can get the tera flex spacers. They give you just enough clearance.

I should add that if you like the quality of the stock ride you will want a lift that at a minimum has adjustable lower control arms. This will help put the wheelbase back to stock as well as adjust the caster. Without them your jeep will feel like it floats in the front even with a 2" lift. A lot of people drive jeeps that do not drive correctly because "its a jeep" and they think that is how it is. A properly lifted jeep will ride better than stock. You will get what you pay for in a lift but for a DD a simple lift like a RK 2.5 mid arm or AEV kit would work great.
Yep. That what I just learned through your guys help. Loving this site lol. What do you think about a 2.5bb spacer kit and and a 1.25 bl. That way I keep my springs stock and have no driveline issues. Trying to keep stock as possible. Read about a couple guys Doing this set up and seems to have good results
